Commitment to a Healthy Environment
When we decided in 2015 to commit ourselves to becoming the first certified Oncology Massage/Facial spa in Los Angeles, we implemented a series of cleanliness protocols to create a safe environment for any immuno-compromised client (going through chemotherapy, pregnant, organ transplant recipient, HIV, etc…). The ongoing pandemic of the COVID-19 virus is causing us to extend our already strict protection protocols even further to minimize the chance of transmission of this virus.
The Los Angeles Health Department has implemented a requirement that we must verify vaccination status of everyone entering our building effective November 4, 2021. Anyone without proof of vaccination will be denied entry unless they can provide a negative COVID-19 test result from the previous 72 hours. This includes anyone with a religious or medical exception must still provide a negative COVID-19 test result from the previous 72 hours.
We are continuing to enforce mask wearing inside the spa for clients and staff, regardless of vaccination status. This is to protect our at-risk clients from direct and indirect infection risks. As conditions continue to improve we will reconsider the mandate based on health department requirements.
Our housekeeping staff uses EPA-certified Food Surface Contact Sanitizing agents that are anti-fungal, bactericidal and virucidal. Of course we always thoroughly clean every room and promptly wash all linens after every use. Our laundry products are free of any dyes or perfumes.
Healthy Clients and Staff
To further reduce the chance of transmission we require everyone to sanitize their hands and do a health intake prior to entry, and wear a face covering while inside the building. We will cancel the appointment of any client and send home any staff member that exhibits signs of illness (frequent cough, fever, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, recent loss of taste or smell) or refuses to wear a face covering. Even individuals experiencing otherwise common allergy symptoms (sneezing, sniffling, coughing, red irritated eyes, etc…) will be sent home out of an abundance of caution.
We provide generous sick leave benefits to all staff members for exactly this reason.
We are staggering the scheduled the time between appointments and limiting the number of clients that are in the building to minimize the number of possible interactions between people.
We have improved our ability to accept contactless payments and introduced online intake forms. We have also removed the food and drink stations in the Relaxation Room, as well as the magazines.
In 2018 we replaced our buildings ancient HVAC system with a state of the art unit that uses an electrostatically charged MERV13 filtration system to filter out airborne contaminants 0.3 microns or larger including dust, smoke, pollen, bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold spores and any other tiny contaminants that can cause disease or discomfort. Each indoor room also has an exhaust fan that during your treatment draws air out of the room, venting outside through the roof.
We have since added individual HEPA air filters in each of the treatment rooms to add an additional layer of filtration.
Yes, We’re Frustrated Too
These steps are as frustrating as they are necessary given the current situation. Please understand this is for your safety as well as ours. We appreciate your patience as we all work together to stay safe and sane through this trying time.
